Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital

Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH) was officially inaugurated on the anniversary of Smt. Kamala Nehru's death on February 28, 1941. Smt. Kamala Nehru was an Indian freedom fighter and wife of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru and mother to Indira Gandhi. Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital was named in her honor after she had passed, leaving a legacy of of selfless service and hospitality to those in need. KNMH was recognized as Regional Institute of Mother and Child Health by the Government of India in 1992 and in 1994, became recognized regional cancer center. We currently have one palliative care project at this site, as well as pediatric oncology and maternal health project at this site.

The palliative care project at KNMH began in 2011, with backing from Dr. Paul Thaliath, Head of the Department of Radiotherapy. We current support one social worker cum data manager and one nurse at this project.

The Foundation began the pediatric oncology project at KNMH in 2013, with support of local champion, Dr. Sonia Tiwari. Dr. Tiwari is a trained pediatrician and consultant at KNMH. We currently support one data manager, one social worker, and two nurses at this site.
