Banarus Hindi University was founded in 1915 by Madan Mohan Malaviya, Indian educationist and politician. BHU was created under parliamentary legislation and played an integral role in the independence movement and as such, has become one of the greatest centers for learning in the country. BHU consists of 3 institutes, 14 departments, 140 faculty members, and 4 interdisciplinary centers. It is also equipped with 927 beds with modern treatment applications. We currently have a pediatric oncology project at this site.

Our pediatric oncology project at BHU began in the summer of 2011, with the support of Local Champion Dr. Vineeta Gupta. Dr. Gupta is pediatrician with oncology and bone marrow transplant training; she is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at BHU, where she has been the moving force behind getting a distinct pediatric oncology division. We currently support one data manager, one social worker, and one nurse at this site.
