The Sawai ManSing (SMS) Medical College was created in 1947, as an addition to the existing maternity hospital, one dispensary, and one medical school. SMS Medical College houses the Birla Cancer Centre, which treats adult and pediatric cancer patients. In 1952, SMS Medical College was officially recognized by the Medical Council of India in 1952, after which the new OPD block was laid out and the P.G. courses began. We currently have one pediatric oncology and one palliative care project at this site, within the Birla Cancer Centre.
